History of The Firm

Our firm was established July 1, 1956, when Mr. E. Leon Sackrider acquired the business of a predecessor firm. Subsequently, Mr. Tom Connelly became a partner and practiced with Mr. Sackrider until July 1965. At that time, Mr. Connelly moved to California and Mr. W. Earl Holler joined the firm. Mr. Holler had been practicing as a CPA in Vincennes for several years. In December 1965, Mr. C.E. Trummel joined the firm. Mr. Trummel had been practicing public accounting in Terre Haute for several years.

On October 1, 1970, Mr. Charles F. Bradford was admitted to partnership. Mr. Bradford had been employed by other public accounting firms in Terre Haute and had been employed by this firm for two years previous to that date. Effective October 1, 1971, the firm of Donald D. Rusk & Company merged with our firm and Mr. Rusk became a partner. Mr. Rusk had worked for other accounting firms and had acquired his own firm approximately two years before merging with our firm.

On September 24, 1974, the practice was incorporated as Sackrider Holler Trummel, Inc. The stockholders (directors) at that time were E. Leon Sackrider, W. Earl Holler, C.E. Trummel, Charles F. Bradford and Donald D. Rusk. Effective June 4, 1982 the corporate name was changed to Sackrider & Company, Inc.

Mr. O. Earl Elliott became a stockholder (partner) on January 1, 1986. Mr. Jerome M. Case became a stockholder (director) on January 1, 1987. Both Mr. Elliott and Mr. Case were managers in the firm at that time.

Mr. David L. Kirchner and Mrs. Jane A. Hadley became stockholders (directors) on January 1, 1995 and Mr. Charles F. Bradford retired from ownership at the same time.

Mr. Jeffrey H. Fisher became stockholder (director) on January 1, 2006 and Mr. Donald D. Rusk retired from ownership at that same time.

Mrs. Jennifer Jones and Mrs. Ellie Caldwell became stockholders (directors) on January 1, 2019 and Mr. David Kirchner retired from ownership at the same time. Craig Todd also became a director on January 1, 2019.

The firm has been located at various locations, beginning with South Eighth Street, The Tribune Building and in 1966 the firm constructed a building at 322 South Sixth Street. Six years later we had outgrown the facility and we then acquired our present location at 1925 Wabash Avenue.
