Hello's and Goodbye's
We welcome three new staff members to Sackrider & Company this tax season!
Brian Womack will be an intern this year. Brian is a senior at ISU and plans to graduate in May. He will have a double-major in accounting and finance and a minor in forensic accounting and anticipates having a career in public practice upon graduation. In his free time, Brian likes to watch TV, hang out with friends, and go bowling. His favorite flavor of ice cream is Mint Chocolate Chip.
Ricky Pemberton is joining Sackrider & Company as an intern for a second year. Ricky will graduate from ISU in May with a major in accounting and a minor in forensic accounting. He enjoys playing soccer and video games in his spare time. He has previously worked at Ballyhoo Pizza King, Toys R Us, ISU and at Vigo Dodge. His favorite flavor of ice cream is Ben & Jerry’s Late Night Snack.
Kevin Womack joined Sackrider & Company at the beginning of January. Kevin will be working on the audit staff and comes to us from Sponsel CPA Group in Indianapolis. We asked Kevin some questions so that we could all get to know him a little better:
S & Co: Tell us a little about yourself. Where did you grow up, go to college, work previously etc? What brings you to Sackrider & Company?
Kevin: I grew up in Terre Haute and went to North High school. I went to Taylor University where I met my wife Heidi. After college I spent a few years at Sponsel CPA group in Indianapolis, working in the audit department. We have a son named Bruce, who turns one next week. I interned at Sackrider when I was in college and am pleased to be back here again and closer to family!
S & Co: What do you like to do for fun?
Kevin: I enjoy spending time with my wife, son and two dogs, as well as talking stocks and politics.
S & Co: What do you like/love about being a public accountant?
Kevin: I love the variety that comes with public accounting. Throughout the year, I may work with over thirty different companies, in different fields doing a variety of work. It's challenging and means I get to keep learning after school.
S & Co: Tell us about a great experience you have had in your lifetime.
Kevin: Being a husband for the past three years and a father for the past year has been my greatest experience.
S & Co: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Kevin: In Terre Haute. I would really like to not move again!
In January, we said goodbye to Rachel Smith. She had been with Sackrider & Company on the tax staff for several years. Rachel moved to the Indianapolis area to join her fiancée, Lee. We wish Rachel the best of luck and hope she will come back and visit often. We will especially miss her assistance in planning the annual after-tax season party!
